Khwai-Mokoro Safaris & Campsites (KMS) is a revolutionary outfit within the Khwai area, established within the Sable Alley River.  The establishment philosophy is to operationalise the outfit with the minimum ecological impact, green energy and medieval cultural connotations laced by futuristic eco-sensitive and environmentally sound practices.

The Mokoro Safaris and Campsites operation is a brainchild of consummate and renowned safari specialists with a combined experience spanning over 30 years in the field of tourism & hospitality, classic adventure travel, eco-friendly safari camp developments and operations tainted with world class experiences and culinary bounty.  These safari specialists saw the need for a synergised & ethical tourism and wildlife operations in the Khwai area, an iconic and one of the best remaining wilderness areas in northern Botswana;

The intention of Khwai Mokoro Safaris is to offer the tourism operators in the area and beyond, a one-stop, fully functional and expertly run establishment with the highest pedigree, and yet light impact solution for the fragile ecosystem of the Okavango Delta and indeed the Khwai area.

The Khwai-Mokoro & Campsites is tucked discreetly within an island of mature Leadwood trees bordering the Sable Alley River and in close proximity of the Khwai river.  The river is part of northern most outreaches of the Okavango Delta, a world heritage site and an iconic impulse Delta in the world.  The Khwai area is renowned for its diverse landscapes and ecological beauty – owing to fertile alluvial concentration of sands, supporting palatable and nutritious grass types which are heavily sought after by herbivores such as buffalo, roan antelope, kudu, sable and others.  These healthy population of iconic species in turn attracts the predatory species such as lions, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs and hyenas.  The birdlife is prolific and a birders paradise with the majestic species such as the African Fish Eagle, world rarities such as the Pel’s Fishing Owl being an occasional sighting, intra-African migrants and Palearctic migrants during the summer months swarming the area.  There is no better ways of experiencing this world-wonder from a traditionally crafted Mokoro (dug-out canoes) reminiscent of classical olden days!!!  The “glide” through the Delta waterways is simply unparalleled and therapeutic.
